FAQ

Questions we get asked

Grouped by what people are usually trying to work out before they call.

These are the questions that come up on the phone, answered here the same way.

The company

The company

Are you affiliated with Viking?
No. Harbour Row Service is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Viking or its parent company. We repair Viking appliances and we say so plainly, which is not the same thing as being appointed by the manufacturer.
How far do you travel?
We work Ponte Vedra Beach and the rest of St. Johns County, roughly forty miles out. Travel inside that radius is included in the diagnostic fee. If you are outside it, ask, and we will give you a straight answer about whether we can help rather than a maybe.
Do you offer emergency or overnight call-outs?
No. We work scheduled appointments Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and Saturday 9am to 4pm. Booking a defined window means the technician arrives with the right parts on the van instead of arriving fast and empty-handed.
Where do I find the model number?
On the rating plate. On a range it is usually under the cooktop lip or behind the kick panel; on a built-in refrigerator it is normally on an interior wall near the top; on a dishwasher it is commonly on the edge of the door. A photograph of the plate is more useful to us than a typed number.

The work

The work

Do you work on other brands?
No. We service Viking appliances only. Staying with one manufacturer is how a technician builds real depth on a product line rather than a shallow familiarity with a dozen of them.
Do you service outdoor kitchens?
Yes. Built-in grills and outdoor refrigeration are a large share of the work on this coast, and they fail differently from indoor equipment because the salt film that forms overnight stays wet until the sun reaches it.

What does the diagnostic visit cost?
A flat $129, credited toward the repair when you approve the work. You get a written estimate before any part is ordered and before any labour begins, so there is no open-ended bill.
What is covered after the repair?
Ninety days on our labour and three hundred and sixty-five days on the parts we supply. We fit genuine OEM parts.
Do you fit genuine parts?
Yes, genuine OEM parts and nothing else. The lead time on a part is quoted in writing alongside the price, because on built-in appliances it is usually the part that decides the schedule rather than the labour.

Does a gate or a long private drive change the appointment?
Only in the arranging. Most of the communities we work in are gated with staffed access, so we need to be on the list under the name the visit is booked in, and we need to know which gate to use. Telling us where the appliance actually is — main kitchen, outdoor kitchen, dock end, guest house — is what keeps a first visit to one trip.

Call and ask. We would rather talk it through than have you book a visit you do not need.

90 days on our labour, 365 days on the parts we supply. Genuine OEM parts.
